so i just got a lenovo think centre and i am going to put linux on it but i need to run windows for just a few days so i can verify something works because it has a com port on the back and i dont have a adapter my friend told me a while ago that he had a microsoft service disc that bypassed the cd key can anybody clue me in on what he was using? please (pic related)

If you only need it for a few days, install windows 7. You can skip the activation key and use it for 30 days before it starts popping up messages asking to activate.
