Hey /g/, I have a question regarding small electronic devices like bluetooth or gps receivers.
Doesn't the technology exist to gather enough energy from the electromagnetic spectrum around us to power a device such as a gps locater, without ever having a need to recharge?
I believe this is already done with RFID to some extent, but I was curious if you had any more information.

RFID tags get enough energy to relay the information contained inside them. It does work in certain applications.

No. Read the wikipedia article.
The energy comes from the reader. It's similar to wireless changing.
Also even if you were to build something like this it would be very inconsistent, unlike wireless charging the electrical fields around us are varying wildly and are very hard to utilize.
