How come no one has made a sentient AI yet?

Yes, engineers who have seen terminator are the sole reason sentient AI doesn't exist. Not the near impossibility of creating such a thing.
Functionally all it requires is a sense of past, present and future.

I did make one a couple of weeks ago, but I balked at the ethical implications, so I never powered the thing up.
