How likely am I to get a job if I get a few language certifications at a community college? I'm already up to my neck in student loans, so getting another baccalaureate at this point is simply out of the question. Would shelling out the money to get an AAS be better?

pretty gud m8. unless you're in silicon valley area you have a good chance. i have a few buddies out here in phoenix that have nothing but associates and they landed programming jobs straight out of community. they make around $50,000 a year and for phoenix that's the equivalent of $90k in san jose ca.

if you're in an area that doesn't shit out programmers like silicon valley area like candy you be fine. just craft a nice portfolio by working on a few open source projects and a few of your own creations that no one else worked on and you be set.

I live in the Chicago suburbs. I know there are plenty of jobs, but I'm not sure if I'll get shat on for not having a B.S. I should mention I have a B.A. in journalism, but nobody is going to give two shits about that, right?

surprisingly, that might actually help you land a management role.

receive an associates in applied computer, land a two certifications in IT roles such as mcsa and rhce, and apply for IT management positions. or any programming certifications.

you won't be doing the grunt work, but instead sitting back "monitoring" people and getting paid six figures.

you know since its journalism, you could become a tech journalist or work for a company as their tech PR.

journalism isn't that bad of a degree if your willing to branch out to fields not traditional journalism but semi related journalist fields.

maybe get an associates in marketing and pair that up with your BA in journalism.
