When I turn on the power supply and boot the computer, all fans spin, including the GPU, but the CPU fan, and it will not boot.

What could be causing this? Motherboard? CPU? Power Supply? What should I do to troubleshoot?

What's the best free VPN that allows torrenting? I know, I know, free VPNs suck and there are good paid ones for pretty cheap, but I don't have any money at the moment and am fine with anything as long as it's not unbearably shitty. I've heard decentish things about some, but most of them don't seem to allow p2p for their free accounts. Any suggestions?

I wanted to clarify, it is not booting up to bios or anything. When I flip the switch and power on, fans spin, but the monitor does not wake and the CPU fan does not spin.

So
1. Does the CPU need power for the computer to boot to bios, or can you boot to bios without the CPU?
2. If it was only a fan error, it would boot to bios and then read "fan error" right?
3. I'm thinking it's most likely due to power not getting to the CPU. What could cause this?
>>
Sometimes when I suspend my computer, then wake it up, it won't connect to wifi.

It's how it works though. Normalshits have been trained to recognise numbers and shiny things when they're judging a computer.
"Wow, 4 giga hurts? It must be BLAZING fast with 3 THOUSAND Megabytes!"
High numbers, shiny cases, these things are what sell. The average person is just too stupid to understand what makes a good computer so they rely on pointless marketing metrics, and so if you want to sell a computer to a general audience you have to dumb it down and put the price up.

Yes, put the price up. The price is also something that normalshits use to judge how good a computer is.

Alternatively, would any of you guys know of any super cheap VPNs for under $4 a month? I have exactly that much on my PayPal right now. PIA and some other sites offer that price per month but only if you buy a year's worth or whatever, so it's around $30-40 all together. The "pay by month" plans are around $6. IIRC, it used to be only around $3, but I guess they raised their fees.

>>
>>55501555
1. If you're making a rig for $1k, stop spending more money on useless shit and spend money on the most important shit (CPU, Motherboard, GPU, PSU).
2. That means, go ahead and get the 1000w gold certified PSU and the i7 skylake. These are things that will be worth your investment.
3. Get a 120GB SSD for boot and a 2TB WD Blue for storage, fuck that hybrid drive shit.
4. Dark Rock 3 for your CPU cooler. Still looks good (better even imo) and is much better overall.

It's your choice, but valuing a red/black color scheme and paying a premium for it while settling for less with your CPU and your PSU is just stupid, imo.

So for shits and gigs I'm writing an OpenCV aimbot for Overwatch seeing as though there's big red fuck off outlines around every enemy
I've got it clicking when I'm aiming at someone but now I want it to move to aim at the target, my retarded ass cooked up:
        # Too far to left, move left
if (x+w < 960):
ctypes.windll.user32.SetCursorPos(960-mod, 540)
# Too far to right, move right
elif (x > 960):
ctypes.windll.user32.SetCursorPos(960+mod, 540)
# Too low, move up
elif (y+h < 540):
ctypes.windll.user32.SetCursorPos(960, 540-mod)
# Too high, move down
elif (y > 540):
ctypes.windll.user32.SetCursorPos(960, 540+mod)

and it works but for some dumb reason cunting Overwatch doesn't care where Python's putting my mouse

How do I get Overwatch to care?

Well, where do I even start reading on mice capturing in Windows? What's Overwatch actually doing?

Absolutely, it only has to be enough for an RX480/GTX1060.

It's just the price between Haswell and Skylake is so minute and I feel like I would be losing out by choosing the former.
>>
>>55503583
Yes. DDR4 works with all skylake CPU's. You just can't run ECC on consumer CPU's.

this more of a request, but i doubt they wsr would know what i'm talking about I am looking for some amd SOC motherboard with coreboot, and 2 ethernet ports. the site has like 10 boards that seem to be server related soc for 199 or something
>>
>>55503607
What you're really losing out on is if you get a locked CPU and a motherboard that doesn't support overclocking.
If the money you would save from going Haswell and not having to buy RAM is enough to step it up to a K edition CPU and a Z97 motherboard for roughly the same price as your Skylake configuration, unlocked Haswell is a much better purchase than both locked Haswell and Skylake.

Local shop had a discount shipment of R9 Nano's for 350 euros. For comparison, RX 480's cost almost that much, 970's are 400 euros, 980's/1070's are around 520-560 euros. I assume this is pretty good deal. I have mATX case and R9 285 currently so cards dimensions needs to be considered and the performance boost is pretty significant.

All the aftermarket 1070 have miniscule differences, to be honest go for the one that looks better inside your case.
None of them stands out as far as performance/heat/noise levels go.

Have a look at the nginx-rtmp module
https://github.com/sergey-dryabzhinsky/nginx-rtmp-module/tree/dev
it lets you stream rtmp/dash and hls through nginx
though dash and hls have quite a delay of 10-30 seconds, depending on how you set it up whereas rtmp only having a delay of 2-4 second.

I run this on my personal webserver, but it runs fine standalone on windows too.
Then I made a tine page with a videojs player with flash as default and dash/hls fallback that points to the server.

so all you need to do is stream to your nginx server with OBS/ffmpeg or anything and everyone can watch it then.
if you're hosting yourself mind your upload bandwidth, so set the bitrate a little bit lower than your upload speed divided by each viewer, not counting you.

I used to do this on twitch with password protected channels, but they got banned too often.
>>
>>55505253
the only way to make a compressed video smaller is to transcode it
that is, encode a new video from that one, with a lower bitrate
this will of course lower the quality (by how much depends on many factors)

Ok so I just installed a new cpu cooler which required me to take the mobo out and disconnect all the stuff attached to it

I have an SSD for OS+some programs and a HDD with an old OS installation and other stuff

When I finally installed it, and connected everything back my PC booted into the HDD, which i thought was weird, and the SSD didn't show up neither in the BIOS or device manager.

Then I switched the sata ports for the SSD and HDD and now the PC booted normally into the SSD but now the HDD doesn't show up anywhere

I tried another sata port for the HDD, to no avail

What the fuck gives?

>>
>>55506170
It's rather unlikely that someone with the necessary skills would bother to look for your family photos or bank details in printer or scanner memory chips. It's quite some effort and you are likely to only find garbage data.

It's up to you of course. If you want to be NSA level secure, use an angle grinder to destroy all chips before throwing the devices to the trash. Only real way to be sure nothing can be retrieved.

Like I said, that's not really the level of paranoia you should employ unless you are a spy or government official.

RAM doesn't work like flash drives or HDDs. It only holds memory while it is powered.

Without a current SRAM loses all traces of stored data within miliseconds. For DRAM it's between 20 minutes to a few hours until basically all data is destroyed.

How do I view my user desktop? I'm the only account on this computer and the admin but it only shows me the public desktop than mine. It also treats me like I'm not the admin by asking for permissions whenever I try and move something there, how do I fix that out too?

Can I use the phone battery from Galaxy Ace 2 in S III Mini?

They have the same specs written on the back so I assume they are identical however the one from Ace 2 fits properly in both Ace 2 and S3 Mini yet the S3 mini one fits properly in S3 while it kinda bulges out when put in Ace 2.

Pardon my stupidity, but...

I'm trying to connect a security DVR to the internet. I'm using Integrated Remote Station. When I'm setting it up it asks for the port number.

When I open the DVR network page there are two ports... the HTTP port and server port. I know this is probably basic stuff but which should I be using. What's the difference between the two?

Once in a while I'll open the Firefox browser, only to be welcomed with a shitload of tabs for each plug-in I've installed over the last while asking me to completely re-install it.

Any idea why this might be happening, and what I can do to stop it?

Should be the same as what I said about DRAM

So, I'm a c/c++ programmer, and I have very little experience with this kind of stuff, but I wanted to get some experience and make something useful for the family to use. I thought I'd try to get a login based file server running (I have very little experience with web servers, file servers, etc.) It's just something me and my immediate family can use to login to and upload/download files to/from anywhere over the internet (ie not just the local network). Nothing big, nothing too fancy, but it needed to be somewhat secure obviously. As in, a proper username and password is required before viewing, downloading, or uploading any files. I had a raspberry pi (with some extra storage for the family's files) laying around that I installed the LAMP server bundle on. I know how to write html/css, but for the login and file up/download part, I'm completely clueless.

I imagine this is too much to cover in one reply, so if I could just get pointed in the right direction, or some links to something that would explain how to do this. I've looked at several places, but I can't find anything specifically for what I'm wanting to do.

It probably has a client program, that uses the server port
It also apparently supports viewing camera images via your web browser, thus the HTTP port.

My windows 10 i5 4k cpu and r9 380x are completely shitting the bed compared to my previous amd cpu and r7 260x.

I tried raising the gpu speed through asus tweak but that just made the whole thing worse.

What could be bottlenecking it?

I believe you have to root it to be allowed access into restricted parts aka anything that isn't your downloads or music or photos directories. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I use Jdownloader2 to download alot of links in a ''Linkfolder/Downloadfolder'' from ExLoad.

Does anyone know if I can autoadd new links to Jdownloader or if I can filter out duplicate file names?
Or maybe Jdownloader has a plugin?
I can't filter through the links as ExLoad keeps generating new ones.

Yes, literally anything north of a 7" 2013 tablet is going to be fast if that's all you do. Processors have outright exceeded that shit. That macbook will be good for like 10 years if apple doesn't go all planned obsolescence on your ass, which they will.

why do people need new phones every year after spending £450 on them?

my n95 hasn't broken yet, so I haven't needed a new one
>>
>>55508503
There are contracts that give you a new smartphone every year as part of the deal.

But yeah, phones are the new status symbols. They have replaced watches.
>>
>>55508633
ah yes, the "my phone is free but I pay £50 a month for it" contracts
