Yes, we know everything is already from China but in here we discuss the no/low-name cheap shit you see on Gearbest, AliExpress, eBay and similar sites.

Working on a Chink Shit Gen InfoGraphic, got any recs?

Want to contribute to the infographic? Take the best possible photograph you can take of your favourite chink shit (this can by anything from chink smartphones, memebuds/headphones, chink SSDs, powerbanks to quadcopters and include some of its pros and cons.

So this one looks stupid in the picture but it's actually pretty solid. I got another one http://www.aliexpress.com/item/For-Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-3-Case-Original-IPAKY-Neo-Hybrid-PC-Frame-Silicone-Back-Cover-Hongmi/32566069644.html is actually kinda crummy.

The stupid looking one is actually pretty functional and seems like it will protect the phone. The little kickstand on the back is surprisingly useful. (if listening through the phones speakers it helps bounce the sound off the surface)

Other than those two I'm not really sure. Worth buying a couple different ones since they are so cheap.

>>55495368

I feel like these people do fucking retarded stuff to get shit to blow like this (or straight up fake it)

People used to do that with ecigs "omfg grenade in your hand close to your face" (I have had mechs left on, they got so hot you couldn't touch it at all above 100c - I had to use a towel to remove the battery - the atty was totally fucked, burnt to shit all the plastic fittings melted completely, wick completely black - nothing exploded, it was a ~0.1-0.3ohm build with thick as fuck kanthal so it didn't burn up and break the circuit it was still in tact - battery didn't vent or anything)

You really gotta abuse 18650s to get them to vent - and venting is what they are supposed to do, release all the gasses that have built up so it doesn't blow up like a grenade throwing bits of metal and hot acid everywhere. (i'm talking about unprotected batteries here - protected won't even vent unless the protection circuitry fails)

So I don't know what the fuck people do to get this to happen.

I'm calling BS on this.

>>
>>55495623

Not sure why it wouldn't last more than a month?

The only issue is the heatsink materials are gonna be total garbage (metal is expensive) and not actually do a good job at all.

Bought that about a month ago and it got here last week. Can't comment on the longevity of it, but it's way quieter and temps average about 13c cooler. Replaced the stock cooler that came with an 8350. I figure if the fan goes, it's easy enough to replace.

Side note: The stock cooler is an absolute cunt to get off if you used the pre-applied thermal compound that was on it. I think it was actually thermal adhesive and I just didn't check.

If it shows up to the computer as a single drive then no it's retarded. If each SD card shows up as a seperate drive there are some pretty cool things that could be done.

> provision 10 sd cards at once
> do software raid with different types of redundancy.

I mean it wouldn't be something I would run as my main drive but there are some interesting things it could be used for. Doing a 10 drive mirror'd raid would be kinda neat if you actually got significantly better reads than a ssd.

Could make for a neat MP3 player thingy (just add sdcards as you need)

Comfy here, I bought one over a month ago but I think it got lost in transit. There's lots of reviews up of the Ajazz, the only issues I've seen are that it's smaller and more cramped than most keyboards + the space bar and arrow keys are non standard size so buying custom keycaps is tricky. It has the best font as standard of any chink keyboard imo, no cringey gaymur font.

I heard good things from anon about it. There's also a new version.

How's the build on Redmi Note 3 Pro? I had chinkphones some half decade ago when I was living in HK and built has been always shit.

>>
>>55498564
you really overestimate the size of msata drives
>>
>>55498599
You really overestimate the affordability of mSATA in this country.

Let's say I wanted 512GB (8 x 64GB shark cards).

http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=2973967

This one is 500GB @ NZD$275.91

If I use the right coupons on 64GB meme cards, I can get them @ ~NZD$17 x 8 = ~NZD$136.

Surely finding a compatible mSATA card is less than half of this crucial mSATA and give slightly better speeds?
>>
>>55498599
Something like this. I can only find 10 slot mSATA SD SSDs, but provided they run at full SATA3, and allow me to run 8/10, I've saved over NZD$100, and have a faster drive, that's also hot swappable.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/10x-Micro-SD-TF-Memory-Card-to-SATA-SSD-Adapter-RAID-Quad-2-5-SATA-Converter-/282008942021?hash=item41a90af5c5:g:nqMAAOSwgn5XFIv~
>>
>>55498737
That's a 2.5" SATA drive, and that's as small as it's going to get.
>>
Has anyone tried this bluetooth controller? There's also a similar thing for $5, but its build quality looks super sketchy for some reason.
http://www.gearbest.com/iphone-game-accessories/pp_261101.html
>>
>>55498962
But would I get the full speeds if I striped them individually in RAID 0?
>>
>>55498981
You don't do jack shit other than plug in SD cards, as the onboard chip handles everything and it just shows up as 1 drive.
>>
>>55498389

I have had my redmi note 3 pro for less than a week so I can't say how it will be long term, but it's a very well made phone.

the only thing to me that shows a quality difference from high end flagship phones in NA is that the leds (home button, back, notification led) bleed through the edges in the dark.

It's not a big deal - I don't really care, but it's a sign of lack of attention to detail, they didn't isolate the light well enough.

I have the one with a white face so this may be the real issue. other than that one thing, it looks high quality. No one would bat a eye if you said it was $600+

To anybody from the UK getting into amateur radio through /csg/, the legendary Baofeng UV-5R is the same price on Amazon UK as it is on Ali and Gearbest if not a bit cheaper.

Pic related is the essential chink radio meme buying list, USB cable for connecting it to PC and programming in frequencies and a better antenna as the one included is really bad.

Remember it's illegal to transmit yourself on these radios without a ham license but you can listen all you want. Good for tuning into emergency broadcasts or snooping on local taxi driver chatter.

Good for prepping for shit hitting the fan/mobile phone signal outage in a war, innawoods operating or getting into amateur radio at its most basic. The radio can't handle digital signals yeah, the common way to do it is to plug the radio into your PC, Google frequencies in your area (ham forums have lists for every major area) and program them in with open source software called "Chirp". You can find lots of tutorials online, once you program in frequencies you want to monitor you can flip between them easily.

It doesn't take a lot to get good photos. 2$ piece of posterboard and a chair. I'm using a Yongnuo YN560IV flash, pointing it at the ceiling and I have a Movo softbox on it. If you don't have a flash for your camera take a bit of aluminum foil and angle it so your on-camera flash goes up. If you don't have a softbox (the one I have was like 4$ shipped) then you can use a thin white t shirt and just hold it over the flash. Wax paper also works. I can suggest more depending on what kinda shit you already have but the point is with a little and I mean LITTLE bit of effort you can get a decent product photo.

They are #1 and #2 for orders respectively on ali. I would use it mostly for camping, to run a portable speaker and charge phones. Some extra juice from laying it out during the day would be nice. Size isn't an issue.

thanks

I know it's a decent phone. But the Mi Max's slight bump in specs really sold it for me. And I would have loved to have a phone/tablet halfbreed.

I don't know how the Mi5 would do with tmobile lte bands but the OIS looks nice. It's a shame about the "small" screen size though. I'm coming from a Galaxy Note 2. I don't want a smaller phone, I'm 6'5" (195cm)

>>
>>55502181

For fifteen bucks? Or are you talking about actual skulls in graveyards, or even better on top of walking people's spines?
>>
Why is buying a new phone so hard?

I want a phone for VR so it has to be around 6" as that's the largest the chink headsets fit.
Been scouring reviews and they mostly say that 5" phones are a bit small for VR as the smaller screen means less FOV so 5.5~6" is probably the sweet spot.

So no Mi MAX as that's too big.

My current phone has 2gb ram and I'm constantly hitting the release ram button so 4GB is preferable.
My current phone has 32GB internal and I have a 64GB SD card and they are both near full, so 32gb or higher internal prefered with SDHC support.

I currently have a 3G sim, but my carrier supports 900/1800/2600 (3/7/8) for 3CA 300+Mbps
I also have a NTT DOCOMO 4G sim that I use for things Japan related, so dual sim would be nice but not required.

TLDR
I need a phone with the following criteria

5.5~6.0" 1080P display
3~4GB ram
32GB+ internal, SDHC (exfat) support
4G band 900/1800/2600 (3/7/8)
Dual sim preferable but not required.
Removable batter preferable, but not required.

At this point I'm not even going to wish that the camera is decent...

Can't ask locals to help as they all tell me to get a fucking Apple, Xperia Performance, or Samshit (I also have a Note N7000 for picture taking as it's too slow for anything else.)
>>
What's the difference between regular and international version of Redmi Note 3
>>
>>55503170
Both, really. People seem to just leave their skulls lying about when they're done with them. Separating someone from their skull isn't as easy as just digging one up though.

Or better yet, you could go into hospitals and ask around if anyone is willing to give you their skull after they die. Maybe offer to pay for it, too, so long as they put it in their will or something.
