Early 4 GB cards are equivalent to 8 GB cards hardware wise, because it's simpler to have a single production line and just flash different software that limits cards to 4 GB. If they had different chips, they wouldn't need to limit the memory in software. They already have a second line. They're not fucking retarded. That's not the case though, so when you go out and buy a launch 4 GB card, its hardware is identical to that of an 8 GB card.
