I can max every single game at 1080p and get at least 60fps min I use DSR and play most of my games at 2k though. I play a shit load of games as well.

No particularly great applications that I'd sink a lot of time into so far. Perhaps budget cuts when it is out.

My favorite has to be H3VR so far, the gun mechanisms are highly detailed. It is basically a shooting range simulator.

I'll probably be doing 2k as well. I saw a video of a guy playing battlefield with 1080 sli and getting over 80 fps on 4k which I think is around the plateau of vr criteria. I'll inevitably upgrade in a couple years, but I'm curious to know how a single 1080 will handle current vr games.

Does it make sense to get a Vive now or will it be replaced within a year?

Honestly, I don't see the point of upgrading right now.
Hopefully the Vive 2 will feature more advanced controllers.
