Microsoft has back ported previous versions of DirectX before, it's not like OSes can't be updated to support new features. And I like Vulkan better because it doesn't mean cross platform in the sense that multiple versions of Windows can use it, it is cross platform in that it can work on Windows or Linux or potentially the PS4 and any system that decides to implement it. This is why open standards are better.

The 390x is clearly an oddity there given the 390 position. Pascal is doing better, not great but yes something with 4000 cores is going to beat something with 2000 in async. I think its questionable if any other real games will actually use it.
