The harsh truth is, most companies don't want you unless you have either skills, a degree, or connections.

I did web dev in my free time for 2 years until I got an internship, outside the work hours I kept doing stuff for people I know, and now I'm working for a company that won the best employee award last year. I do get slightly less money for not having a degree though.

you dumb? companies don't have time to waste baby sitting your dumb ass. go learn stuff and do your own side projects and build a portfolio. then apply for an entry level job. alternatively get into a company some other way (i.e. IT helpdesk) and look for an opportunity to apply for a webdev position within when a position becomes available
