Hydro power is the cheapest power in the world, even on large scales. There's a reason that all those huge Bitcoin mining farms center around regions with hydro power.

Most people would charge their cars at night, when there is tons of spare capacity, so even if electric cars became super common, the worst that would happen is that night rates rise to the same as day rates.

And any solar system you put in now will probably need to be replaced by the time electric cars become common enough to affect electrical prices.
