The chink phone guide is out of date it seems.. I really need an upgrade from my freebie prime core. I live in the US and I currently use MetroPCS.

What's in the 150-200$ range that uses microSD, has a decent battery, is no bigger than 5in screen, OK camera and is abit snappy for common tasks? I'm not picky about games but I wouldn't mind playing pokemon GO on it. Not afraid of needing to tinker with it or flash a rom on it or whatever. Suggestions?

I'd rate it at 8/10 in general, but 10/10 for price
~130 to buy phone, but only 35 a month

I want to root the phone, but am ignorant. I know there is secretly a linux based os hiding under all the shit. Do I get to pick a new OS for the phone? How do I still conduct 'on cell network' things like calls, or is it not that complicated? I just fear that without the drivers on how to use the cell network, it won't work? What do you guys think of the Xperia XA? I don't care about instilling custom roms/rooting or playing games so the cpu doesn't bother me. Most chink phones don't have the LTE bands for my area (ATT) and the xperia checks off all the right boxes such as 5", sd card slot, minimal bloat, nice design. Apparently it will be for about $279

What exactly does it do better than the Apollo Lite?

http://www.kimovil.com/en/compare/vernee-apollo,xiaomi-redmi-note-3-pro

Serious question, because I always hear about the Redmi Note 3. I kinda want the Apollo but there must be some downsides to it I'm not seeing. I mainly want a good cam and a 1080p screen.
>>
>>55238259
X20 has a faster CPU but GPU on the SD650 is better if your'e gaymin. bigger battery and plenty of roms as well on the RN3P.

Apollo is good but Vernee is a new chink company with no record or reputation. it probably won't have roms either so your'e stuck with their OS skin as well.

Also. I don't think it's actually out yet, so I'd wait for reviews first if I were you.

Alright, that makes sense. I'd like to be able to install custom roms, so I guess I'll wait and see.

>Huge screen and resolution, preferably 1440p - 1080p minimum 5 inches or more, bigger the better

>Hardware good enough to watch videos on that resolution with no problems, with quick responsive performance otherwise

>Ability to upgrade storage

>Able to upgrade to latest android version, no idea what the limitations for this are I'm retarded

>Battery that won't die on me in under 12 hours

Other stuff that would be nice: Fingerprint scanner, 3.5mm headphone jack, brand I've probably heard of before

Anybody gone from a Nexus to the s7/edge? The Nexus 6p and it's sd810 don't really interest me, have a Nexus 6 currently and been using Nexus for several years. Only non Nexus experience I had was a short stint with the lg g3 and I fucking hated it

Touchwiz appears to be trimmed down and the themes help get rid of some of its ugly color schemes. Still not sure if I will miss AOSP android, wondering if anyone else made a similar transition?
>>
>>55244237
Nigga, just google which bands your carrier uses and check if they match ones this phone can operate on.

Also on performance - Snapdragon 650 scores slightly higher in benchmarks, than 808

I went from Nexus 5 and 6p to the S7 edge. Touch wiz sucks in comparison to stock, especially the N beta which had much better split screen support. Touch Wiz's scrolling is not as responsive as stock. Overall performance is less smooth. That said, marshmallow touch wiz is much less intrusive than previous versions, and I think it's doable. The default interface is ugly, but you can fix it. Download Nova launcher and the Google keyboard. Apple a material design theme from the Samsung theme store. Use good lock, change it to a neutral color scheme, and turn off the optional features to make the notification panel near stock like in appearance.

Overall I am satisfied with using the S7 for now because of the great screen and camera, but I still plan in selling it when the 2016 Nexus comes out. My time spent on the N beta was the best software experience I've ever had on a phone and I can't wait to go back. The s7 won't get N until next spring.

If you are deeply tied to stock Android and don't appreciate any oem modifications, I'd recommend waiting until the next Nexus. The 6p is still as good phone, but it's overpriced for using such a shitty chip.

Zenfones have shitty update support. I wouldn't be surprised if the ZF3 never gets N. I haven't used a zenfones so I can't comment on how good the software is but I've heard it sucks. If you can wait, I would recommend doing that.

>>55244677
By September the next Nexus will be out/almost be out so you can see whether you'd prefer it over the S7, but I imagine the S7 will still be one of the best phones by then as long as touch wiz doesn't bother you.

I do almost zero gaming on my phone, will the SD810 on the 6p really be an issue?

Currently have a Nexus 6 that is on its last leg, need to get something new in the next couple weeks.

6P, S7 edge, and 6s+ are my contenders.

S7 edge might be my choice but the edge meme seems fucking annoying and I think it will really bother me long term.

6S+ is intriguing because I miss the "just werks" and superior app design on iOS, but I hate the fruity aesthetics of iOS and I am pretty heavily in the Google ecosystem aka botnet.

Honestly the S7 edge would be my choice if it weren't for the damn edge meme making it fragile and the accidental touches. Regular s7 is just too small for my personal taste and I want best possible battery life.

I like my Nexus 6 for the most part, but after rooting and flashing 100s of Roms the performance has really degraded lately and lags alot...not interested in flashing Roms anymore so even if I got the 6p it would remain stock.

No sd, really bad battery life, and anything relatively CPU intensive will cause overheating and lag, it also has last year's hardware, which doesn't make sense if you want the latest and greatest.
It uses emmc, so read/write is slower than everything coming out now, I also doubt the amoled is current gen, but I haven't seen any tests on it

>I just feel unpleasant whenever I look at the OnePlus 3's display.
>I don't think it's a stretch to say it's the worst display I've examined during my time at AnandTech

>Put simply: this is one of the worst displays on a phone

It's fucking shit.

From my experiences using LG phones and tablets they all seem to have similar issues. Poor battery life, low screen brightness, meh build quality and a somewhat off looking display calibration.

Fucking hell.
Is the Redmi Note 3 Pro really the best sub-400€ smartphone?

wait for objective re-measurement, if anyone bothers to do them. It's unlikely to have made that much difference.

Here in Spain there's a website that sells chink phones, try searching for one.
There's Ebay and Aliexpress, but I don't trust those for electronic devices.

Top-One store on Aliexpress.
They offer a shipping method that works by first sending the package to britbong land and then to you.
Since it's coming from Europe you won't have to worry about customs and tax.

That site ships to Germany and has a fuckload of chink phones.
They are in the ''Dual sim smartphone'' section which is just code for chink phones.

They can do to the software whatever they want, but that won't fix the shit-tier pentile display, camera bump or >3000mAh battery.
The phone is shit by default.

My only thought is a Verizon branded LG G3 which you can exploit to root and customize, has a front camera, and good screen. It's not thick but it is a bit long.
