Jesus, these peoples suggestions are terrible.
Here is what you need to do.

Buy a length of 2x4, measure distance between shelves, cut 2x4 to length.
Buy 2 of these:

Paint pieces to match desk color.
Measure and pre-fit and mount 2x4 flush to center of bottom of desk surface using joist hangers.

Can double it if you like for added strength. Cheap as fuck and will look like it was designed that way if you take you time and do it right. Can also then remove 2x4joist if you ever have to move it. Just make sure you mount joist hangers securely in file cab sides.

Done.
