Is there a way to hook a laptop display up to my desktop so that I can capture the laptop display from the desktop?

What I want to do is screengrab content from my laptop display and send it to my desktop. The alternative is to screencap it on the laptop and transfer it via email or USB drive which I do not want to do.

Using winblows you can use a Screenshot program like ShareX and tell it to save in a shared folder.

You could also use Remote Desktop Connection.

You could

I don't think you're understanding. I know how to screen capture, but I want to use my desktop to capture the screen from my laptop.

Not unless your desktop has a video capture card installed in your PC.

I am interpreting this and you wanting to take a screenshot of the display of your laptop and send it to your main desktop.

So you can set the laptop beside you, press the screenshot beside you, and configure it to use an SMB share to appear on your laptop instead of using a USB or a laptop.

OR, if you don't want to have your laptop in the same room as you, you can configure remote desktop connection and remote into it and use ShareX to capture the remote desktop window.

I think I've covered all bases here, just like in my original post.

Since I'm Australian I'm going to head to bed, if this doesn't help then ask the karmawhores on reddit.

You can definitely purchase capture software and for the laptop to desktop screen, I would identify weather or not you need to use a traditional computer display cord or just and hdmi cord

Fuck, I can't spell, it's late but you get the gist of it

You can't, the desktop need a video capture card to achieve this.
Any software solution will be exactly the same as just capturing the video on the laptop, because you need to encode it to sent it via network to the desktop and the video is already processed.
