My brother bought one because it came with an extra one free and a gear VR headset.

He used the headset once and said it was pixelated and slow. Hes upset that it doesn't have the stock OS like the Nexus and says its buggy and slow compared to his Nexus 6 and Nexus 5.

His fingerprint sensor fails often too.

Can confirm screen protection is a fucking nightmare with the edge. If I had my time again I would get the regular S7 and be done with it.

If you have a good case and a wet application screen protector, your edge will be fine. Otherwise good luck with every other screen protector that peels the fuck off.

I have an Incipio case and it's good.

I like the edge functions but I only use four of them. Water resistance is a plus. Good low light camera. Powerful. I like how it looks. I like it as a device.

My only other preference at this point would be the P9 but, as a telco salesperson, asking someone if they want to buy a P9 ten times a day eventually results in so many penis jokes at work that I can't hear it any other way.

Got a S7 Edge.
I deactivated the edge feature. It is not usefull.
Speakers are indeed tinny-sounding. But it is waterproof (1 or 3m for 30min) so you're safe for at least dropping it into a puddle of water.

I'm disappointed that the storage space via adoptable something-something is not working properly. I was planning to put downloaded amazon video on the device but it doesn't use the sd card storage.

Other then that it is a fine device. You can replace the TouchWizz if you want.

I just got an S7 as part of the Samsung Insights beta/research program, I really don't find it all that spectacular but it was free so I'm going to keep it. In about 5.5 months it'll become mine, free of charge, and it'll be on craigslist that day for $350 cash in the hand and I guarantee you it'll sell in a few hours.

Then I'll use the proceeds from that sale to get the best device for me (which is a flagship from 2015, actually, and still nothing matches it today or in 6 months).

It's not. It's a solid device honestly. Although it's a little overpriced at it doesn't even have an amoled and the IPS it does have is dim as shit, dimmer than phones several years older even, also no water proofing. When it was released the camera api on auto was setting the iso too high and blowing out the highlights on photos, even though the sensor is good. I believe that was fixed with an update though, not sure.

Except for those, it's a perfect device. Great Dev support too and it has adoptable storage.
Additionally, it's not bogged down by touch wiz

The Apple iPhone 6S Plus is objectively the best mobile computing device by any possible metric.

The edge models are pure shit. They're so locked down that you can't even flash a repacked (but untouched) stock firmware. That's disgusting. You're forced to flash a shitty engineering kernel if you want root access which is still half assed at best. Those glass edges only make it difficult to use, especially with the software keyboard. Since the display is part of the edges, they must be exposed at all times to use them. This is a design flaw because cases can only cover the top, bottom, and back. If you don't drop the phone on a perfectly smooth and flat surface, it'll break because there's no lip on the case all the way around. I bought an edge and sold it within a week. Worst fucking phone I have ever had the displeasure of using.

Yeah so I'm sending this from a s7. It's amazing, and the fingerprint sensor had literally never failed. Not only that, it worked even when I had a bandage over half my fucking thumb because of a golf blister.

Other than that, it has best in class screen, camera, OS functionality (imo) and design, not falling far behind with battery life (especially with the effectiveness of the various power saving modes). Water resistance is also gimmicky, but a plus nonetheless depending on what you end up putting your phone through daily.

The price is definitely outrageous, but Apple has unfortunately made high prices an industry standard for the higher end market.

And as far as touchwiz goes, it's definitely been scaled WAY down to a more mature, clean look. And with themes, you can always just change the look to that of stock android.

Tl;dr - Great device, great look, great specs, excellent screen, good battery, touchwiz = alright, edge and waterproof = meme, shitty price.
