Hey /g/
im finally building a home lab setup... at the heart of it is an e5-2620v4
my gaming rig is also out of date, so the goal is to have 2 4u chasis, one with the home lab e5-2620 and another with an i7 or i5 and 2 gpu;s so i can have 2 vms set up with passthough on the cards, for 2 gaming rigs to be virtualized on.
now, the home lab server was 500 or so more than i was anticipating, which made me think... how bad of a performance hit will i get with using some spare cores from the e5 if i slap some gpu's into the case?
there doesnt seem to be many metrics on it... there isnt much out there on the gen 4 xeons, but apparently the 2620v4 is a bit faster than the 2630v3 even though the clock speed is lower.
