Sister gave me this laptop after a student at her college stepped on it and broke the screen. Happens two years ago and she was about to throw it away. Stock specs are 4gb, Carleton dual core. 1tb HDD, 15 inch LCD. HDD and ram were damaged, main board and CPU worked fine. Battery and PSU were shot. Spent $200 and replace broken screen. New 9 cell battery and 90w PSU. Upgraded the CPU to an i7 2670qm CPU. Bother win10. Bought an HDD caddy and have 1 750hdd gb and 1 600hdd GB that I had laying around. 6gb ram I had laying around as well. Has /g/ ever saved a PC/laptop?

>saved a laptop
not by spending money on it
use used parts laying around, remove the screen, install linux, and plug it into whatever cheap monitor/tv doesn't already have a computer attached

I didn't have a laptop. The last one I had was a MVP 2011 that I sold for extra moving money. I spent about $200 for the screen, battery, charger, artic silver, and CPU which was the most expensive part($90) overall it runs butter smooth. And I now I have a laptop again.
