>installing OpenBSD takes all of 26 seconds
>FDE is as easy as creating a softraid and encrypting it
>you can install it on a 1GB flash drive
>all the important security options are enabled by default and compiled into the ports tree
Why doesn't everyone just run OpenBSD? It takes literally a minute to install and runs on anything.

I don't know OP, why aren't you using it?
>>
I do on my laptop, it's great
>>

What hardware? I want to install OpenBSD on my laptop, but I did my research and it doesn't seem to have WiFi drivers for it.

muh games
I want an efficient, decently powerful workstation to use as an OpenBSD box since the VPN for it is the best. I have to settle for a VM while I find one.

It says right in the photo. Stock Wi-Fi card was supported but it died at some point, I haven't bothered swapping it so I've just been using this ~$5 USB adapter
>>
I'm not running it because the last time I booted it it didn't detect the wireless driver or something
FreeBSD detects it automatically and I don't know if OpenBSD needs to configure that or doesn't simply have support for mine (which is fairly common)
FreeBSD is getting on my nerve because so slow tho, and I wanna try openBSD but all the greatest documentation is around FreeBSD so I'm considering first getting gud at *BSD and then moving to OpenBSD

Because some people don't like to emphasise on VM toys.

Come back when you install Open BSD in your main machine
>>
>>55067982
it runs fw_update at 1st boot to automagically install all needed drivers

obviously downloading the wi-fi driver doesn't work if you have no ethernet connection

avoid broadcom and nvidia and your hardware will work with OBSD
>>
>>55068039
What are drivers, in beginner linux terminology?
>>
>>55068065
it's a program that tells your computer how to make a wi-fi connection using the microchip that comes inside
>>
>>55067982
That's what I did. I used FreeBSD until I got gud enough, and now I'm getting more gud on OpenBSD.

Still an awesome OS
