I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone and a Galaxy Tab 4. Can Cyanogenmod be installed onto either? Apparently the Verizon version of the S4 will just get bricked if I try, so I've been advised to not mess with it.

what's the best top of the line android phone out right now? dunno if I should get the htc 10 or the galaxy s7. leaning towards the htc 10 because my carrier's version of the s7 is impossible to root and that's pretty important for me...

Seeing as Webp encoding has a range of compression methods, have any cameras or camera apps adopted the use of Webp?

I did a PNG to Webp conversion with the parameters

-q 90 -m 0

and it took less than a second, that was on my intel celeron laptop.

Also does the fact that Webp uses 4:2:0 chroma subsampling really matter?

I heard Daiz talking about it on /a/ that it made Webp a shit format but someone posted a Webp comparison and Webp clearly looked better than JPG at the same file sizes.

I got fibre and the internet is pretty fast, but only when close to the router. I'm using EOP powerline adapters, and only get about 10 up 10 down. I'm in an extension which has a separate power circuit/fusebox, which I think is the reason for the shit speeds.

Is the only way to get better speeds to use an ethernet cable, or is there a way to get faster speeds by somehow skipping the join between the two different power circuits? I know nothing about circuits.

I do have a spare router and a spare powerline adapter.

Hi, gtx960 wont fit into the case. It fits into the mobo and is compatible with everything, it's just this meh case (cit spectre). Someone on the last thread suggested I take out the 'drive bay' on the left so it will fit, but I don't know if that's possible. I probably don't have the tools either. I saw a comment on Youtube with the same case and card and it fit for them, PC Part Picker also didn't list any incompatibilities. This is my first build and I'm stupid. What do??

How do I fix this sound issue, it's driving me crazy.

Using X201, Arch. Speakers work for a while and then they just stop working. If I close the laptop lid and open it back again right after, it starts working again or a bit but then it stops again. Also, while the speakers don't work, the beep sound still works.

Should I keep windows 10, or return to 8.1 (with custom shell) that I'm so used to? I've had 10 for about a week and a half now and it's just not growing on me. updated my nvidia drivers and it turned back hardware acceleration on so when I went fullscreen on youtube/netflix then exit it made the screen look awful and no way to revert it unless I restart.

I turned it off in options for chrome and it works fine now but when I open through IE/ME it still forces hardware acceleration. I have to use those browsers due to only ones allowing 1080p

I bought an old eMac from a thrift store. It powers up and boots to a login screen but I don't know McStupidFace's password. I have a MorphOS trial cd that I can boot to so I can access the HDD in another OS, for about half an hour at a time.
So my question is: Where in the file system does MacOS hide the password file so I can crack/patch it, or where did they hide it back in the early 2000s?
Alternately, would I just be better off hunting down the OS install ISO, burning it and reinstalling from scratch? Or should I look for a PPC linux instead?

What is not confirmed is how good it will be. With the recent benchmark it can be compared to the GTX980, so a lot of people thing it will beat the R9 390X and have the same performances of the R9 fury which would be awesome for a $200 GPU.

But what about downloading all the raw full-sized media content posted on the front page of Imgur (for example). I've used 3 different torrent clients and they all read the same error: Cannot Find Directory/Cannot Find File Location upon downloading.

It works fine if I put it on my C: drive, but never my D: (media) drive. I was messing around with sharing and Homegroup with friends (so they could all access my D: drive), and it stopped working after. I reverted sharing settings to default/left Homegroup but it still happens.

I just realized the 4chan catalog has custom dropdown options when you right-click.

When did this happen? How? I didn't even know this was possible without making a custom menu.

My first build is lifeless, I need 4chan to assblast me with knowledge. The cpu is plugged in, the mobo has all six standoffs screwed in (it *is* resting on some that do not have holes), I wired up everything possible. The light on the case is on, but pressing the power buttons does nothing, there's no speaker beep and the fans don't spin. Did I fuck up back in the stage where my cpu became Cap'n Crunch during installation?

It's possible your rig is fine, but the power button is broken or not plugged in. If your motherboard has a power button, try pressing that instead.

I'm getting a free Intel 6700k. I'm low on cash. What should I get to build around that. I have a 1080p monitor and will use the integrated graphics card for now. Keep it under $500. Check your motherboard's specs to see what speeds it supports. As long as the timings and latencies match up, the motherboard will clock down the faster stick to match the other.

It's not ideal, and it may cause instability, but it's doable.

The older chips are said to really hold their value, but why buy old now though?
I mean they're still crazy expensive so they must be doing something right.

One picture that I can't find showed a game being run in the same setup with various CPU's, it had FPS ranging from 80-120, with each older generation losing about 10 FPS.

But I think it was Crysis 3 or something, and the components were really high end anyways.

In non-extreme cases though, I think it would be fine. I went with a 6600K just because they were on sale for $220 at newegg today, 35 less than usual. But I wouldn't be surprised to see the 4690 go on sale anytime soon either. Check your prices every day.

I have an extra SSD I put in an ORICO enclosure. I use a macbook pro with bootcamp. Was going to boot games from it on windows side due to limited HD space. Formatted the drive using disk manager on windows side to exFAT. Now I can't recognize the disk on the mac side OR on the windows side; it isn't shown using diskutil list on OSX or using the device manager list / drive manager on windows.

Got some problems and questions related to them. Have I utterly lost in silicon lottery, is there something else going on and how can I troubleshoot this further?

I've had i7 [email protected] GHz stable for around a year. No crashes which I could relate to the clocks and I could run benchmarks just fine. However to achieve that clock and run the system stable, it meant that I had to use 1.35V core voltage which is VERY high for Haswell and borderline hot under load even with my H110 closed loop liquid cooler. I accepted it as what it was even if the result I got was basically the worst 4770k I ever saw.

Recently I started experiencing crashes from occasional ones in games to ones during desktop use. USB devices would shut on/off regularly, CPU fan 2 won't work unless I plug it into one of the system fan headers etc. I tried running Prime95 and it crashed during the first minute. I go to BIOS, lower clock speed by 0.1 GHz and try again: crashes immediately. I lower clock speed again: system fails booting. After some retries it boots but it refuses to run a benchmark stable. I lower clocks to 4.0 GHz and voltage to 1.25V: it stalls in BIOS while saving and after it finally boots it still fails at running Prime on any of the benchmark types for more than a second. I never had any problems using clocks this low - just 0.3 GHz shy from the max turbo freq of the defaults.

Any idea what is going on? My CPU might be the worst Haswell ever produced but this kind of stuff makes me wonder if it's just the CPU causing problems or something else? I just loaded BIOS defaults and running Prime stable for an hour. Other specs:

Intel i7 4770k, now at stock clock speeds
Gigabyte Windforce GTX 780
2*Corsair Vengeance 8 GB 1600MHz DDR3
Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD5 with newest BIOS available

Windows 10 can't open start menu. Control panels is missing windows update. Can't open Settings either via RUN 'ms-settings'.

This is really stumping me. The PCI-E is in my GPU, the 24 pin block is tightly in th motherboard, 1 SATA power cable is connected to my SSD and HDD (I'll plug the third bit into an old laptop drive), the other SATA is in my optical drive.

I've ventured outside to world of "plug in RAM and use" to try and use the fastest speeds my motherboard would allow, 2133Mhz according to the website.

So I got 2133 Mhz sticks, went into the BIOS and set the speeds and all the timings to match what the sticker says, I changed the vram voltage in my CPU menu to 1.605V (sticks say 1.6V) and figured that should work, but my system has trouble booting afterwards.

It will beep and start for half a second, then shut off, try again, shut off, and usually boot fully the third time. Aside from this obvious problem, CPUZ still reads the RAM as 800Mhz instead of the 1066 it should say.

What painfully obvious thing am I missing? I even reset to defaults to clear my overclock that was stable before, only changed the RAM values, and still the same problem.

Why does Xfce on Debian not include all the GTK2/3 engine stuff? The user has to figure out why a bunch of window elements are missing when they open certain applications. Even the window that queries the user for a superuser password is missing the text box background and other things. You're left to go through Apt or Synaptic to search for relevant packages.

The computer will see the thumbdrive as an HDD or in this case more so of an SSD. But like that, it will only have so many reads and writes.

So the original NoSquint for Firefox stupped working, had to "upgrade" to NoSquint Plus but this version seems to insist I put its icons on my bar. I have a laptop with a broken screen and I hooked it up to a couple monitors.(pic related) About 7 months ago, I was getting notifications that my hard drive was failing. It shut down earlier today and immediately boots into the bios, however, because the screen is broken 90% of the way I can't make out what it's saying. I have alternate hard drives but they are blank, what should I do in this scenario? Is it possible for me to install an OS using another computer and placing the hard drive inside the fucked one?
