OK nerds I'm in the US and I have sprint. I broke my galaxy s6 last week cause I'm an idiot. So I've been having to use my old 2013 MotoX which always gave me problems. When I factory reset the moto x, I got an updated android version that actually ran really well... for a week. Recently it started doing a never ending "google play services has stopped" message. I tried everything. I did a factory reset but I worry it'll eventually come back.

If I root my moto x and install cyanogenmod, can I be assured this never ending "google play services" bullshit never comes back? I remember rooting my Evo was a pain in the ass, but I'm looking at the process for rooting the moto x and I think I'm up to the task. Plenty of reports of the fancy curved screen cracking due to only slight drops OR, more worryingly, cracking spontaneously in pocket/whilst charging.

Depends on what you want.

Depends on what you do and what you want the phone to do. If you don't already know what this means for you exactly (like why you'd what cyanogen or not in the first place) likely means that using the new touchjizz isn't going to be a problem for you.

Get a different launcher/file manager/theme and make touchjizz look and function however you want. Cut the bloat with package disabler etc.

Bottom line:
It's not as bad as it used to be, and if you're not so anal (you NEED whatever rom's functions or whatever) then you're not likely going to know the difference. The fact that your here asking these questions points towards it not being such a big deal for you.

Not necessarily the reviews (which are all paid for) but the side by side battery tests/app launch tests etc.

One thing that majorly pisses me off about the z5 line is that the camera lens cover is easily scratched plastic.
Not apple's premium unscratchable sapphire crystal, not even whatever scratch proof glass samsung uses.

People complain about blurry pics with the z5, not realizing that it's the lens cover that's scratched up; an easy thing to do putting the phone back down on a surface without a case.

Sony's phone cameras aren't as responsive as they should be if that matters to you, but considering their actual photography division is pathetically the same in regards to usability, I guess it's no surprise lel

There's also the issue with the processor sony chose for that line. Many reports of overheating, at least with the z5 standard and the compact.

The edge gimmick pretty much is worthless. It's actually more of an aesthetic. Funny cause its advertised as a "feature" you can use for shit.

It looks pretty cool if you watch a video, it has this kind of popping effect. Plus there's this effect as if there is no screen and the image is just on the phones surface, because the colors are good and the image can appear right to and over the edges. Pic related is the best I can do. See how it's hard to tell where the screen begins and ends? Its not just the shitty camera I used, it literally looks like that.

Other phones have been convincing with great colors before, making it look like an image and not really a screen that's turned on, but the s7 does it better than any phone I've seen. I had to think for a second to get what you were talking about. Answer is no. The phone is pretty reflective in general. If the screen is black you can see your face and shit. I wouldn't take any note of the edges any more than the rest.

Occasionally yes. I was aware of this before I got it because I was able to play around with an s6 edge for a day in the past. The s7 edge screen is actually different a little from the s6 edge I think, iirc it's slightly less edged so this doesn't happen as much as the s6.

It's no worse though than accidentally bumping the buttons next to the home button. You know the back button? Bumping that shit is way more annoying. I bumped the one on the left that shows all the open applications a bunch of times when I was doing shit on it a few hours ago. I find that shit much more annoying because if you touch the edge of the screen mostly nothing even happens.

Just like avoiding those, you just learn to hold the phone a certain way so it doesn't happen.

If it helps you decide,the battery setting shows my s7 edge has been on for 7 days and 14 hours if I'm reading it correctly. It's at 6% now. That surprised me, I feel like it's only been about 5 days but then I can't remember when I last charged it so I'm probably wrong.

I'm not a big phone geek, I usually use my desktop rather than be on it all the time. But maybe that gives you an idea of how long it can last. The thing is crazy compared to the s3 I was using. And then in one hour or so it's charged again. I remember I didn't charge it for like 3-4 days when I first got it and it only was partially charged at 60 something% out of the box.
