How's the Raspberry Pi 3 if I want to buy a few of them for personal projects/emulation boxes?
Same as every other RPi: poop.
It'll work but you can do better.

Which ones are better?

literally buy second hand xeon processors
it's okay. Can emulate some games on the n64 and ps1 but thats as far as it will go. But for the price it'll be hard to beat. Look into retro pie if your going to emulate
Have fun purchasing more than 1.

can I use one to host a mattermost server? is it fast enough for that?
Its Broadcom.
If you want shitty drivers and VideoCore instead of a real ARM Mali GPU go for it.

>But for the price it'll be hard to beat.
Actually its trivially easy to find a better SBC, literally every single one for sale at a similar price point with ARMv8 is faster.
Odroid-C2 is cheaper and literally twice as fast with twice the ram, gigabit ethernet instead of 100mbps and it doesn't route everything through one usb channel like the shitty Broadcom chipset.

Tfw I have an 8 core processor, 12 gb ram, and psu for $400 off eBay
>>54937255
This. You can build dual xeon systems to fuck around with and actually have decent hardware to run your weeb video storage servers on.

Mali is an even more locked down POS tho
The best bang for your buck is pine64 1gb ram I guess, for 25$ it's a hard deal to miss.

neo /g/ everyone - "you should by Xenon for your micro controller projects"
I bought a Raspi 3 for light desktop replacement but then I realized Monitor+Raspi3 is the same price as a refurbished thinkpad and then I cried a little bit
Dont buy one unless you want to build something with it, and even then its probably less cost effective than arduino

Because half of these threads aren't projects, they're asking for streaming servers.
The other half are shitposting.

What did you expect from the hello world board?
>>54937255
I'm pretty experienced in high end shit, but I am clueless on low end.
Is it possible to create a low power system like a Synology yourself? And if, what would the must have components be?
>>54941886
Yes and yes
>>54941894
Any ideas on what I should get?

not OP but details please
that thing from Mr Robot actually exists?

Yes
