It was recorded with a separate camera because a program recording the desktop wouldn't show the performance of the desktop raw. It would be veiled behind whatever recorded it. If the recording software had a glitch that the desktop normally doesn't show, then it would effect the final outcome.

Mir is basically X 2.0 with canonical backing it. It's a display server and a protocol and some libraries. It's also GPLv3 so software using permissive licenses cannot use it.

Wayland is a protocol but it has standardize libraries for making the compositor/display server. I don't see why you would have a problem with it.

The sad part is, these are all bad things in the Loonix community, not just on /g/. I like Debian, but it's only good for those nostalgic faggots who want to rice and don't care about progression. If you don't care about the future and aren't contributing, get the fuck out of the way.

Ubuntu and arguably Fedora are the only two Linux distros that are close to actually bringing the Linux desktop to reality. Ubuntu has the most support from big companies, Intel and Valve to name a few.

You don't have to like the touchscreen interface, but they're trying to appeal to users. I'm sure it'll be optimized for PC more, rather than just seeming to be a Tablet/Phone UI.

The fact is, it looks great, looks fast, snappy and it actually looks like a fucking OS. I've been using Fedora and Ubuntu and I can honestly say they're miles ahead of whatever autistic little Arch desktop you have.
