I was asked recently to help my sisters step daughter to build a computer. So I was looking like crazy for an old i5, but people wanted at least 150€ for a 2500k. And I absolutly refused to pay that kind of money for a old platform (even though the value is still there, I know).
So we ended up just getting a i5-6500 since it's only 65€ more expensive than 2500k and even a Z170 with DDR4 support was just 30€ more than a LGA 1155 for no reason at all.

So yeah you are pretty much comparing a 70€ CPU to a CPU worth more than twice the price.

Also how can you actually hate on AMD? They are the only reason why your i5 wasn't $600 back when you bought it.
And yeah I'm a dingus who only owns Intel CPUs as well, but we really really need AMD to get money.
