Thinking about getting the BlackBerry Priv anyone know how it is so far?

God-teir phone. Worth every penny.

Bought it, great phone. Gets warm when turning on but they gets cold again.battery takes a while to break in, after a couple of days I'm getting 12hours of screen time

It's overpriced as fuck BUT it runs Android. I'm not sure.

the BUT suggests you think one of those is a positive thing and one is negative. Why do you think being overpriced is good?

I want one too, anyone have any experience good or bad with it I'd love to hear them

It's not, he was just stipulating that even though the Priv is priced too high, it's still able to run the Android OS. Thus it brings great pondering on whether it's worth to discard this phone as a viable option for a purchase.

Personally I think the Priv is a great overpriced phone. It makes normies assume you have money and don't suck cock (iPhone). I'm that shallow that I would buy the priv to make myself look better than what I really am. Maybe OP is a loser like me.
>>
Why don't you just buy a OnePlus phone?

>>51445294
Because the only one that doesn't suck from them is the OPO, and it's quite old for some people.
>>
>>51445294
Because then OP wouldn't be able to jerk off to the size of his ego. The priv is nothing more than a fashion statement. At least it doesn't make you look like a fag the way an iPhone does.

Hardly. It's the only android phone with a physical keyboard and modern specs unless you're talking about that samsung abomination. The edged screen actually offers some great features.

That and the new OnePlus's 810 is a fire hazard.

I'm using one right now. The phone is great if you want to throw $700 at it. The only problem is the BlackBerry Services right now. They actually drain more battery than Google Now does. And if you have both not disabled, well... I've had my Nexus 5 do better for battery.

If you want root and shit, I would say hold off and keep an eye on XDA. If you want BlackBerry services but not at the expense of battery life, wait for Marshmallow to be put on the priv (should be happening sometime in Jan/Feb).

If you're on the fence with buying this phone, WAIT UNTIL AT LEAST MARSHMALLOW.
>>
>>51446896
Mind you, the battery IS good if you have BlackBerry services disabled. Updates should fix this up, but know that you are completely dependent on BlackBerry for these updates.

If i wanted an overpriced POS id just get an iPhone.
Get a Nexus 5, OnePlus X or Moto X, if you really need a shitty phsical keyboard, just get a chinese one.
>>
>>51446896
>MARSHMALLOW
why ? what features does M have that are so must have ?

I find most Android updates incremental, not huge stuff anyways.

Now on Tap feature[195]
Doze mode[196]
Alphabetically accessible vertical application drawer[197]
Application search bar and favorites
Native fingerprint reader support
Direct Share feature for target-specific sharing between apps[198]
Do Not Disturb mode
Larger Application folders with multiple pages
Post-install/run-time permission requests
USB Type-C support
Demo Mode feature for screenshot-capture usage[199]
Automatic full data backup and restore for apps[200]
4K Display mode for apps[201]
Adoptable External storage to behave like Internal Storage[202]
MIDI support for musical instruments[203]
Experimental Multi Window feature[204] [205]

Out of all those this is the only one that interests me

>Post-install/run-time permission requests
>>
>>51446990
I think a lot of people want the permissions thing
>>
The Priv interests me mostly because after my Windows Mobile flipphone, my first smartphone and several after were blackberries. I had an 8820, then the Bold 9000 and 9700. After that I bought a Galaxy S2 and never went back. I really, really miss those old ass things.

$700 though. Maybe I'll see what deals are going on since my S4 is starting to go.

>>
>>51449615
It's true that I type slower on a physical keyboard, but who are you to say this should stop me from using one if I prefer typing this way?
>>
What's so good about this phone? Is it just because of the physical keyboard? Actual good phone, or just a meme phone? I haven't had the chance to look into myself yet.

Pocketnow has a pretty good review on youtube. Check it and never come again
>>
>>51449681
He didn't say stop. He listed a fact and you agreed with him.
>>
>>51445268
But the only alternative is that he considers "runs android" to be a positive trait, and this, honestly, is a bit too ridiculous to even consider, so I'm still going to assume that he just likes overpriced devices and that's why he wants this phone despite the android.
>>
>>51445294
Does it even have a keyboard?
If not, why should I waste my time with it?

The thing is, I have big man fingers. Writing on a small phone's screen is hard because of the dimensions. The only reason I'd want a physical keyboard is to reduce typos and speed up typing. But is the area to hit with your finger actually any bigger?
>>
>>51441689
The software updates will make this extremely good. I'm fully satisfied with this. It's fair to say that it saved the company.
>>
>>51451794
>The software updates will make this extremely good.
You should never buy a product based on future promises. Is the phone worth buying as it is right now? No? Then don't buy it.

>>51451665
>But is the area to hit with your finger actually any bigger?
Depends on the phone you are comparing it to. The physical keys are no bigger than the on-screen keys on the Priv. I mean, why would they? They need to cram just as many keys into the same space.
>>
How does this protect my privacy if google maps and chrome will collect everything I do anyway?
>>
>>51445546
Wow great argument fagtron you sure convinced me with those hot opinions.
>>
>>51451851
It doesn't, it's yet another memephone.
>>
>>51451841
You forgot that it is their first Android phone.
Are you even experienced with Android?
Even my old Xperia Z2 had issues at first. Overheating. Lag. Low volume on calls. Software updates fixed it.
It's how Android is.
>>
>>51441689
From the reviews I've seen, the battery life is really terrible, as in less than 3 hours SOT in a day. A shame because it looks cool otherwise.
>>
>>51451957
>reading shill reviews
Good goy.
>>
>>51451983
>MKBHD
>shill
You must be new here.
>>
>>51451891
Yes I am very experienced with Android. That's exactly why I am saying you should not buy a phone based on future promises.
Not only is there a high risk of the update not fixing issues, there is also a risk of the updates being very few if any at all.
>>
>>51446990
Doze mode increases your battery life significantly.
Now on Tap is kinda gimmicky but whatever.

Everywhere I've seen says that battery life stabilizes after about a week. I guess it needs to calibrate or whatever first and then the battery life is good.
>>
>>51452010
Bahaha that sounds so desperate. It probably "stabilize" after a week because users adopt to the terrible battery life by not using their phones as much.
>>
Holy shit, retard, just buy an iphone like everyone else.
>>
Personally I wouldn't buy it, because I don't know whether a BB cma run Android efficiently. Being a huge BB fan for years and having owned both a Curve and a Bold, I'd buy the BB Classic, which has a similar qwerty keyboard and physical function buttons. This said, I hope many people will buy the Priv, then eventually the price of the BB Classic will decrease...
>>
>>51441689
It's mediocre. https://youtu.be/K-jYDRd_53w
>>
>>51451665
the area is not bigger, but the keys are not flat, so it's easier to hit the key you want without risking pressing the neighboring keys
>>
>>51450993
>typing on a tiny phone keyboard is the same as typing on a full size keyboard
Wow you are dense.
>>
Any chance of sticking CM/Omni in this thing?
>>
>>51454240
It has the same benefits.
>>
>>51455754
No it doesn't. In a full size keyboard you can use 9 fingers at a time.
>>
>>51455865
And on a full size software keyboards you can also use 9 fingers at a time.

>>
>>51455878
You can't realistically because it becomes a pain to have to hover your fingers above them instead of resting them on the keycaps. That issue isn't present on phones.
>>
>>51455987
How isn't it a pain when using a phone?

>>51456062

>>
>>51456077
No it's not. The sole advantage of a physical keyboard is being able to touch type. A hunt and pecker will have the same speed on a physical keyboard or a software keyboard. Touch typing isn't possible on a phone at a decent speed. Go ahead. Try to type on a phone sized keyboard with your eyes closed.
>>
>>51456125
>The sole advantage of a physical keyboard is being able to touch type.
Apart from comfort, and having a set of physical buttons mappable for many other tasks? Perhaps, surely I could think of many more advantages but I don't feel like thinking right now.
>Touch typing isn't possible on a phone at a decent speed. Go ahead. Try to type on a phone sized keyboard with your eyes closed.
How is it a problem? I have an Xperia mini pro and regularly type without looking. Only time I look is when I type with just one hand.
>>
>>51456258
Now try doing it with your eyes closed.
>>
>>51456336

Which makes sense, 300 vs 500 outright and add an outrageous 25 dolla to my monthly bill vs 15
>>
>>51449794

It's a high end phone with a physical keyboard. Pretty much it is slightly over price but at the same time it makes sense if you think about it because BlackBerry is the only physical keyboard phone in the market today that doesn't suck.
>>
>>51457010
Physical keyboards on phones are worthless.

Yes, new technology is terrible. I wish we could go back to the days where programs were entered through punchcards.
>>
>>51454277
not a chance.
>>
>>51457079

Not really. Realistically I think physical keyboard phones aren't any more faster than virtual keyboards. In fact, I'd say they're slower. However you still can't beat accuracy, keyboard shortcuts and having the entire screen available (like I have right now) for typing comments without a virtual keyboard in the way.

Thinking about trading my five month old Passport for one.

I don't know.

I'm thinking to get the passport silver edition tb.h.
I saw some reviews, its smooth, looks solid, can installs android apps.

Because having to look at a shitty inaccurate touchscreen and putting your fingers over it is much better than pressing physical buttons that provide feedback and let you type without even looking, right?

Fuck off, millennial. Physical keyboards are not "old technology".

You can write up to 100wpm with a physical keyboard. What's your point? Just because you mastered your shit cooking technique doesn't mean shit tastes good.

Still enjoying that lack of feedback, retard? Have fun with your gay-ass "pop" sound.
>>
>>51457601
Yeah, and I can make unicorns come out of my ass buddy.
>>
Thinkin of taking mine back, gets hot, shit battery, keyboard is good though
>>
>>51457532

It is also dependent on the language fampai.

Diacritics on Android are a pain, and the word recommendation is absolute ass, it doesn't do 60% of all grammatical forms of words.

On the new Blackberries, can you still write diacritics holding the symbol key? I could do that on the Nokia E63, but I haven't seen anything like this for the Classic/Priv (and not possible on Passport because touchscreen-only symbols).
