Windows 7 is literally the pinnacle in terms of usability, efficiency and user friendliness so far in terms of operating systems. A couple of seconds more boot time does not change this in the slightest
>>
>>51399114
I upvoted, good sir.

I fell for the w10 upgrade meme, sleep didn't work and bluescreens often. Currently downloading a w7 iso to get rid of this shit.

OP seems to disagree. You see, OP is such a busy person (most likely a very successful businessman), that even a few lost seconds could cost him millions of dollars.

(okay, not true it was last week because I had to update a driver. But I don't remember how I long I went before that)

I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re refering to as Windows, is in fact, NSA/Windows, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, NSA plus Windows. Windows is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another locked down component of a fully functioning NSA system made useful by the NSA corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by the government.
Many computer users run a modified version of the NSA system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of NSA which is widely used today is often called “Windows”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the NSA system, developed by the NSA.
There really is a Windows, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Windows is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Windows is normally used in combination with the NSA operating system: the whole system is basically NSA with Windows added, or NSA/Windows. All the so-called “Windows” versions are really versions of NSA/Windows.

Boot time.... Seriously?

I guess if we want a useable operating system as a product not a service we may just have to pirate Windows Server or find a way to run Windows Embedded.
>>
>>51399020
The boot time improvement is not new to this update in Windows 10, it has been since Windows 8 started hibernating the kernal. This is why Windows 10 takes just as long to start as Windows 7 when you get a bluescreen or do a restart.

Windows 10 doesn't have the Windows Classic theme. I'm not using Windows without the Windows Classic theme.
>>

There's really very little difference between 8.1 and 10 except a GUI overhaul anyway. 8.1 + themes service disabled + classicshell master race.

I think it has been more than 2 years since last time I had win7 problem.

Boot up time isn't even a major issue in the era of SSDs. My Windows 7 boots up in about 10 seconds. Sure you might save 1 or 2 seconds in Windows 10 but I'll take a couple seconds for the overall experience of 7 any day.

Ah yes, exactly what I want, Microsoft knowing exactly what Sumerian erotic woodcarving games and apps I run and how well they work in Windows 10. , Application information, hardware config, and network information being collected is ridiculous. If something hangs or crashes, just ask if I want to submit telemetry data or look for solutions online, like in 7. Or allow for a full, functional opt-out.

most of the difference in boot time is because they took away the keyboard polling for F5/F8

Now if you need to get to the boot menu when you're locked out of Windows just let it get to the login screen then pull the plug (or battery) Next boot will send you to the troubleshooting options because it didn't shut down cleanly

Use a SSD. When I had Windows installed it took maybe 5 seconds after passing off from the BIOS. The BIOS itself takes longer than the OS.

Of course it's a little misleading. You can technically have Windows loaded that quickly, but not fully. It actually takes a couple minutes or longer for everything to fully load--that's assuming everything is optimal and no malware is slowing shit down. This is how Windows is designed however. MS knows that two minutes is unacceptable, so it's designed to give you partial functionality ASAP, to give the illusion of booting fast, while everything else loads.

OpenBSD takes maybe 15-20 seconds to boot fully on my system, and that's including the time the BIOS does it's thing. OpenBSD isn't exactly known for speed either. Arch boots up quicker. So does FreeBSD.
