I'm starting the gym tomorrow. I'm going from being in the basement for about 5 years, to going straight to the gym. This is a routine someone built for me. Just so you know I didn't do absolutely nothing, and I lost a lot of weight. But..

1 Mile Run.

5 Minute Stretch
Pull Up Bar Stretch Hold
Flat Dumbell Presses
15-20Rep Warm Up - 12/15 REps 4 Sets
Tricep Cable Pull Down
20 Rep Warm Up - 15/20 Reps 4 Sets
Incline Bench Dumbell Presses
20 Rep Warm Up - 12/15 Reps 4 Sets
Tricep Dip Machine
20 Rep Warm Up - 15/20 Reps 4 Sets
High/Low Cable Flye
20 Rep Warm up - 12/15 Reps 4 Sets Each (low and high)
Dumbell Tricep Extensions - 15Ibs only
12/15 eps 4 Sets
5 Sets of 10 Pushups
5-10 Min elliptical


Just to give you an idea about me. I fail on the fourth set of push-ups and fail the last couple reps. On the last set I fail the last 5 reps.

Am I going to be fucked? Any tips for me at the gym starting?

Does your "trainer" realize that there are body parts other than arms? You'll look fucking stupid if you actually manage to gain any muscle on this routine.
Never speak to the person who made this for you again, unless they are a literal retard you hang out with as a form of volunteering.

could be. most ppl working at regular gyms have no fucking idea what they are talking about and write plans with max reps and with as many machines as possible. and they almost never let you use free weights or do compounds (probably scared you'll end up hurting yourself or start making gains).


just read the sticky and do one of the beginner routines (I'd recommend Fierce5 instead of SSGOMAD mememagic). preferably without adding anything to them. never do more than 3-5 exercises per day. and do 3x5 for compounds 2x10 for accessories. you do not need to do dropsets or anything of the sort.

also don't be paranoid about other ppl judging you at the gym, you are invisible until you made the required gains

good luck then. and remember to stick to the routine for at least 6 weeks. preferably 3 months or more. if you start second guessing anything, you'll only give yourself an excuse to stop so that you can start again for real

one more thing. i still live at home. buying food is stuff and keeping up with calories and protein is also. i basically got rid of every thing that was garbage. do i really need to keep track of everything like the sticky says? i dont know how im supposed to do that shit. if i want to be 170Ibs, then i have to eat 170g of protein? a day? there is just no fucking way man

if i followed that advice i would go through everything in this house in 5 days. including the whey protein i bought. its only 30g a scoop. it cost 25 fucking dollars.

I'd strongly suggest tracking you food maticulatly in the beginning, since you have no idea what macros are in which meals or how to portion. Just use a tracker on your phone, like Yazio or something.
Also the gram per pound rule is a bit iffy for most ppl. I do believe it is optimal but I only use it as a vauge goal and most of the time I dont hit it myself. Just try to get at the very least half of it. something like 100-130 is pretty doable from my experience. I'd also reccomend against drinking more than 1-2 protein shakes per day in the long term.... no matter which brand it never ends well otherwise..
