Is it bad to work out on an empty stomach? I feel like I'd be much more efficient doing my workout before breakfast and using breakfast as like a post-workout meal.

Depends on your workout. If you're doing lifting you should eat early and wait an hour or two to digest it then lift.
If you're loaded up with carbs you're going to have a much more effective workout.

I always work out before I eat. What you achieve might not be your best, but you can make improvements in reference a fasted state, and also in a fed state as well.

Depends on how long the session is Tbh, I've been doing two hour long technique sessions lately as I've just got into weightlifting, and I would never get through those fasted, but my morning strength sessions, which are all <60 minutes are very doable.
