Am I a meme?
>want to get into weightlifting
>order power cage, bar, set of 10 pound plates, set of 25s, set of 45s (so 205 pounds total)
>have never lifted barbell in my life
>first day lifting
>can quite easily deadlift the full 205
>can just barely bench 1 plate (135 pounds) for 1 rep, very difficult for me, couldn't go any higher
>can squat the full 205 pounds for 5 reps
>tfw squatting 205 pounds for 5 reps is easy as fuck for my legs, but is quite difficult for my upper body, and leaves my neck and shoulders sore
>tfw feel like my legs could squat twice this but my upper body could hardly handle any more
>tfw legs are supposed to be limiting factor in squats
>tfw for me, upper body is limiting factor by far, legs aren't struggling in the slightest
>tfw skier and cyclist, can go for 100 mile bike ride and legs won't be tired in the slightest
>tfw upper body is weak
A-at least my legs are strong r-right? Am I a meme?
Also, given that squatting is leaving my shoulders/neck sore, am I doing something wrong?
Are you going to depth with squats? Ass to grass m8. Well below parallel at least.

That might be my problem, I don't know. I was going pretty low, I think my thighs were at least close to parallel to ground, if not quite parallel. I should be going lower than that?
This time I went lower. Legs still fine but my neck felt like it was going to die. What am I doing wrong?

Dude your form is way off.. lower the weight and start doing them correctly. Your back will thank you>>42872637
OP here, I just realized that bench pressing is supposed to start with the bar in the high position, then lowering it, then raising it. I did it backwards, I started with it on hooks just above me, grabbed the bar, lifting it until my arms were fully extended, then lowered it back to the hooks. Is it wrong to do it reversed like this?

you're doing a good morning squat. Watch some squatting technique videos and go down in weight, then gradually work your way up

Oh and it seems you have no idea how to lift. Watch and read anything Rippetoe and Alan Thrall have ever said, written, or done.
