Damn, I could only get like 2 or 3 when I was 200lbs
I can't touch the bar with my chest. What is up with that? And it feels like my shoulders are not protracted (pulled down) during it
Why are chinups so much easier than pull ups. I can do 3x3 chinups (very slowly with 3 sec hold) but I can barely do a single pull up once.

Chin ups involve more muscle mass in total, as they allow the biceps to contribute fully to the lift.
Pull-ups only use a small amount of arm muscle mass and rely mostly on the lats.

You're kidding. I can do exactly 10 pullups in a row but not a single chinup. What do I need to work out?

Well, with chin up you recruit your biceps more, making it easier to curl yourself up a bar. When doing pullups more of your brachioradialis is involved for elbow flexion making it harder to just pull yourself up using your arms only. Most people do arm pullups, so there is that.

IMO people find chinups easier because the movement is more natural
to put it in perspective, people try to do pullups in an absolute vertical movement, so that they lose a lot of muscle activation
chinups are almost vertically impossible, so that the movement is more natural, but it is almost the same
tldr: you don't pullup like | but \, like rippletits is doing
