When we moved from SD to HD videos, actors/actresses needed to put on more makeup.
The additional details is what looks ugly. Maybe it is blemishes on your skin or some wrinkles.

Because when you're closer you're focusing on really small details and imperfections (Which everyone has by the way), whereas when you're further away you can't really notice them. An eye being off by like a millimetre or two looks weird when you're standing 10cm away from the mirror, but you won't notice it as much when you're a meter away.

That photo is dumb as fuck by the way, the guy on the right has absolutely fucking massive hips and has clearly got makeup and editing (body and face) going on, as well as perfect lighting, while the dude on the left is just some guy. These sorts of comparisons are dumb.
