Heres a reminder to all beginners who want to be aesthetic to NOT FALL FOR THE STARTING STRENGTH MEME
No, you do not need a "strength base" before you start doing hypertrophy exercises. A person who does PPL for a straight year will make better gains than someone who does SS for the first 6 months.
"but I can just cut after SS and get more muscle than the PPL guy!" this is in a PERFECT VACUUM and assumes you can look like complete shit for 90% of the year. Also sitting on your ass for 4 minutes between 3x5 sets doesn't train your work capacity needed for higher rep/lower rest time ranges.
tl;Dr - SS and Stronglifts are memes, do PPL
You're right, you know. I did SS for three months and can't really recommend it to anyone. Like yeah, good job on those deadlifts and squats every single workout, you sure have strong legs... I'm sure your /fit/ buddies are impressed by your squat, too bad not one girl actually cares about your stupid quads.

I wanna suck on those man titties

It's not your quads that should become impressive. It's your stance. Do your vanity curls all day, get all the muscle. But without a good foundation you will still look like a chump.

There's ways to build a "foundation" without squats or deadlifts, but whatever, you go ahead and get dat SS GOMAD NOOB GAINS until you realize it's fucking boring as shit or you fuck your lower back up from improper form.

Why would I improve my physical abilities in order to attract a mate with a desirable genetic make-up? Especially if she'll pass those valuable genetic traits on to our offspring, ensuring the continuation of my lineage and the perpetuation of my genes?

I lift for Jesus. My pain in the weightroom is but a fraction of the agony He felt, and His strength becomes my own.
