U can use excel on phone through docs/sheets. Pic related is my workouts

there are apps out there that are much more mobile friendly

You either did enough sets, or you didn't. I put in a column for failure, when filled it makes the next week the same as the current.
Excel is the way to go.

If android, fitnotes. It's free, no ads, has a rest timer, 1rm calculator and you can set your own routine. It's honestly the best fitness tracker app I've used.
