I'm trying to eat at least 1000 calories / meal, as cheap as possible.

Pasta is fairly cheap/high calorie. I make alfredo all the time when bulking, it's one of my go-tos when I get to the end of the day and still have like 1500 to go

Not OP but some of us here are 6ft+ lanklets who look dyel if we don't cram at least 3K calories a day. And it's more time efficient to eat three 1K meals than five 600 meals.

Are you bulking or cutting? Glycemic index is a meme. If you're eating your carbs in a non-fasted state or with any amounts of fats, digestion is slowed way down anyways.
