Some is legit some isn't.
Depends on the type of therapy, some treatments such as Acupuncture for Chronic back pain

However for most treatments its all up in the air with actual effectiveness still being a wishy washy issue, either literature doubts effectiveness or there is no literature at all.
Word of warning though, some Chinese medicines can be dangerous. Particularly the herbal ones, they can sometimes contain chemical compounds structurally related to other drugs. Because it counts as """"""herbal"""""" though it isn't subject to the rules and regulations of the FDA like most drugs, so dosage and potential side effects are in the air.
>TLDR: Find out what you're taking and do you research around it.

Chinese guy here. This guy is right. My great grandmother was an herbal healer. My mother still has some of her old concoctions around her house. The topically applied oils and ointments for bruises, sprains, and soreness worked. Other stuff, approach with extreme skepticism

Modern Chinese medicine is pretty much the same thing as regular medicine nowadays. The doctors now all learn Western practices, follow the scientific method, conduct studies / trials, and look for underlying mechanics. For example, fasting as a treatment for obesity, and extracted from this one riverside weed for malaria are both extremely legit Chinese medicine practices.
Other stuff like eating the burnt out assholes of some dead tiger to cure your father's penis warts are not legit and shouldn't be used as medicine.
