only drinking whey protein will result in muscle loss, as your body will convert the proteins into glucose. this won't be a "fast", and you'll be starving yourself of nutrition.
if you want the benefits of fasting, try intermittent fasting. there are lots of "programs". two of the most popular are the 16/8 split, where you don't eat for 16 hours (typically folding your sleep time into the 16 for convenience) and allow yourself to eat freely for 8 hours, and the two-day-a-week fast, where you totally fast for 2 days out of the week (maybe you decide to pick tuesday and thursday).
