>5km run time didn't increase
Why is rippletits full of shit?
rippletits has never done cardio in his life
don't listen to him for cardio advice

>from 155lb squat to 295lb
>from 155lb bodyweigh to 220
Shocker.

Squats and deadlift would affect sprints more than medium/long distances. Bodybuilders, powerlifters and strongmen all have pretty good 100m runs actually and sprinters do lift weights.
>Why is rippletits full of shit?
5km runs are mostly about maintaining a good pace and not wasting energy and breathing. Having a strong lower body doesnt do shit for 5km and longer runs for that reason.
Your 1rm generally correlates pretty well to your 2rm, 3rm etc, usually down to about 8 and then it starts vary more, as you go higher in reps it has less and less correlation to your 1rm
I guess a 5km run is something like 3,500 - 4,500 steps (reps) depending on your stride so it has absolutely fuck all to do with your squat. If anything the extra muscle will slow you down.
Oh and yeh, basically the more I learn about lifting and exercise in general the more I realise that Rippetoe is wrong about so many things. I still think SS is an ok program for a beginner but beyond that he hasn't said much of value.

>Squats and deadlift would affect sprints
Only if you train sprints with your lifts and train lifts explosive or just "fast". Slow lifts are proven to make you slower, that's why weightlifters usually don't lift much more than they can clean.
>Bodybuilders, powerlifters and strongmen all have pretty good 100m
No. Only olympic weightlifters have good 30m sprints, but not 100m, that is too long.
>Bodybuilders have pretty good 100m
lmao
Lifting will impact 2000m row times.

>bodybuilders and powerlifters have good 100m
no the fuck they don't
strongmen might

in rippetoe's mind just getting your squat up is the answer to any athletic pursuit, if you want actual advice on becoming a better athlete you're better off taking advice from wendler or somebody
>>42754238
listen to random 50kg anons on /fit/ less
Making your legs stronger has no affect on your cardio
>>42753774
this guy has a 200kg front squat and says its very useful for sprinting.
IMO, 300lb is fuck all regardless and it also depends on the type of squats you do.
for me, its helped me jump.

It can, but only up to a point.
Increased strength allows you to run longer.
However, excess and building too much mass(fat or worse muscle) on top of that while not training your cardiovascular endurance is stupid however.
Whoa it's almost as if running any distance above 30m requires a better VO2 max than bigger leg muscles xD
>>42754178
how would you run that far without breathing you've GOT to be kidding me
