How can fatties claim that it's outside their control when every decade the obesity rates are higher?

The problem with this is that it doesn't tell you the whole story.

The human body is far more capable of storing excess calories and fat than it is to not have them at all-the bottom end of this range is finite, and has a much lower ceiling in comparison to that of the higher end.

Let's say that the survey touched on women aged 20-26, and it surveyed 1,100 women, concluding an average weight of 166lb. Let's again say that same survey targeted women in a metropolitan area near a school-New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, ect, so the sample isn't geographically biased.

If you were to take the bottom 2% of women, and the top 2% of women, and eliminate them from these data sets, the average weight would drop, dramatically. The upper portion of the heaviest individuals of adult age in the US weigh well over ten times what the smallest of individuals who do not have a genetic defect have, and this distribution would hold true throughout.

The bottom 2% probably have no one weighing less than 75lbs in their ranks. I would be genuinely surprised if the average weight of the lowest 2% was any less than 86lbs.
But with the upper 2%? The sky's the limit. The upper 2% could be 300, 400, 500lbs or more. They sleep the data negatively to the point of tipping the balance.

If you were to eliminate just that, just the top and bottom two percent, I bet the average weight would drop by several pounds, if not more, depending on how many people they used for the study.

I'm not saying there's not a mass problem in American society-But to imply that the average woman is 166lbs is purely revisionist propaganda. Without giving us more meaningful statistical models-including the basic things most American 4th graders understand like Mode and Range, this is both a statistically invalid figure and a disingenuous scientific statement.
