They don't mean when you start making money doing what you like, they mean if you need to do what you like to make money. If you are just making money from it, that's one thing, but when you're forced to do it to make money to survive, it's less enjoyable.
He makes hella money from it so he's fine, cause he isn't constantly under threat of not having enough money to live off if he hits a dry spot.
