As a beginner, will I put on more muscle mass doing ICF 5x5 or a PPL program with heavy compounds 6x a week?
Is the diffrrence big enough to be worth doing something I find less fun?
As a begginer, anything you'll do will give you results, just fucking lift and eat properly.
Consistency is key.
Eat lift and never miss days.
Learn to do dynamic stretches before your workouts, and static stretches after them.
But regarding programs :
Being strict in volume is the biggest problem with beginner programs, either too little so they miss on little gains, or too much and they crash and burn.
Hence why you should use a method and learn to make your own programs.
So far only reddit routines do this, nSuns and GZCL(P)
Cody lefever ( GZCL creator) even teaches you how to gradually add accessories and build your pyramid.

As long as you are consistent and try to increase the weight lifted each time you work out, you will make nice gains on either, especially as a beginner.
The real question is, do you want to be in the gym 3 days a week or 6 days a week? I've been lifting for a while now and I love lifting but I don't even like going to the gym more than 4 days a week, it gets old. So you know which I would recommend, but you do you.
