Hey guys I have no idea wtf I'm doing, I have never lifted or touched a barbell in my life and never been to a gym but I wanna start so I just ordered $500 worth of equipment (power rack, bench, olympic bar, 70 pounds of weights), wtf should I expect and wtf should I do when it arrives? I wanna be /fit/ like you. Am I gonna make it and how long will it take?

Uhh that's a really small amount of weights.
You didn't even get two 45lb pl8s?
Any dumbbells?
>how long will it take?
Forever if you don't get more pl8s.
Research excercise routines and programs that fit your schedule like PPL (Push, Pull, and Legs) as well as Starting Strength Barbell Training.

No dumbbells, just a bar and weights. I only bought 70 (though with bar weight will be like 114) because I am a poorfag and I can't afford more weights but I'll buy more when I can afford it.
How much weight should I be lifting to start with? Will I want more than 70 (114 with bar) right away or after a few months or what?

rest of your life desu

The bar weight of an olympic bar should be 45lbs.

If you're starting with a basic strength program like SS or SL then you might be able to squat and deadlift your maximum weight within a week or two.
I bet you'll be able to do 5 reps of 115lbs on deadlifts within your first day.

Okay, how much additional weight should I get to start with? Should I get two 45 pound plates putting me up to ~205 total? I'm a male in good physical shape (I do a lot of cardio, just new to lifting) and I haven't weighed myself in years but probably weigh like 170 or something.
