because mirrors usually have overhead lighting, which is the best type of lighting for seeing every detail and looking like a shredded cunt

and then IRL you have lighting coming from different directions, sometimes it comes from a direction that obfuscates a lot of detail and you look like shit, you can find pics of almost anyone looking mediocre
