I have always kept my trainer in the loop for everything. I schedule weeks in advance, I call him to reschedule weeks in advance and even if I couldn't make a workout I would still go workout later that day (he would still be working) and tell him it went ok or not.
I always follow his advice and I let him know if it was a rough month and I wasn't eating like I shouldn't have.
He can tell since we do body fat checks every other week.

If he wants to be casual, schedule him casually. or drop him altogether.

tell him to get serious or go to someone else. You get to work out with people for a living, that's a dream job, don't let retards make you miserable.
