Look up Hal Higdons plans. Don't buy them, just find the schedule online. I found his marathon schedule very good, and I think he has shorter distances as well. Just don't over eat.

Look to get a decent pace per mile at your current distance, and once you attain it increase your distance by a mile or two. Then start it over again.
