how the fuck do you tell when you should move up to more weight when doing bench / curls? is there any science to it?

Depends on your routine e.g if SS if you finished all your reps in the three sets then you go up. If bodybuilding you might need to find a rep range e.g I know a friend who only moves up after he can do the weight for 3x12
