>got over illness like 3 days ago but avoided gym because i didn't want to be a gains goblin
>go into gym feeling like shit
>assume I'll get into it when I'm warmed up
>3 reps into my warmup I feel like hot garbage and my shoulder is moving weird
>fuck it and come back next day
>next day have an incredible workout
Did I make the right call? I always hear people talking about never missing a day at the gym or just doing less than usual if you feel bad. Is doing a very bad workout better than just resting if you feel like shit?

Hnnng look at dat fat lil ass

>I always hear people talking about never missing a day
This is usually a motto for people, who struggle with comitting to a routine a find it hard to make lifting into a habit.
They fear that if they slip up once, they will automatically wind up in a down-ward spiral. Like "I broke my diet plan with this cup of ice cream. Well, fuck it all then. Let's order pizza and skip gym this week."
But you definitly made the right call imo.

If you're white why are you typing like a basketball American?

I'm never afraid to miss a day if I feel too sore/tired/sick/busy. But then again I've been lifting for less than a year and I'm not in a huge hurry to get ripped I'm just making it part of my lifestyle
>>42649269
no, if you feel so shit there is no chance of having a productive workout just stay home
you can lift with a cold or something but if you feel fatigued and shitty you should just delay your session

>you can lift with a cold or something
I would disagree. Yes, you can do that sometimes, but if you're immun system isn't robust enough, you can be knocked out for 6-8 weeks.

i've done it numerous times (home gym fag so not going to get anyone sick) over years of lifting and have never suffered any negative consequences, if anything it makes me feel better quicker and momentarily clears my sinuses and nose
i lifted with bronchitis too once but that was probably pretty stupid

Can just tell from my experience:
>Got a cold, waited a few days and went back to lifting.
>Got knocked out again.
>"I'm not a pussy!" and went back to lifting again.
>Knocked out again and felt constantly fatigued
>Went to see a doc
>Well, your heart isn't working right, you gonna go see a cardiologist.
>Hope you didn't do any permanent damage to your heart
>Oh, and 3 months no lifting or other activities
Scared the shit out of me, especially since a football player had dropped dead in his twenties.

>your heart isn't working right
doesn't sound like the cold to me anon
>>42649269
Taking *scheduled* days off is important
Yeah your next workout or two might suck but it'll help you grow long term and injury prevention
>>42650206
>knocked out for 6-8 weeks after lifting with a cold
This sounds like Mom science
What kind of fragile person would actually have this happen? Even 6-8 days would be insane
>>42650615
Feels bad man, but i have this happen to me. Its not fun..
