if you've never lifted or dieted before, yes.
You can lose weight and gain muscle at the same time. Jay Cutler told me so.

You will lose fat and gain muscle, but weight will probably be about the same. The way to measure your progress during is by how your clothes are fitting.

That's not how this shit works. You will NEVER put on the same amount muscle as the amount of fat you lose. You will always lose a shitload more fat than you will gain in muscle.
