Cardio is for health and perfomance primarily. The only relevant effect of cardio for getting leaner is improved insulin sensitivity. So yes, you should do cardio while cutting. Doing cardio for burning calories is a meme tho. You cant outexcersise a shitty diet.

Cardio makes the cut easier, you can eat more while still dropping the weight. Also I imagine you are training for aesthetics and strength in which case you are doing some exercises in the 10-12 rep range, doing cardio gives you additional cardiovascular resistence and more oxigen, which translates to better gym performance in the high rep scheme, which means more gains.
