Sup /fit/ noob here
Went to the gym today and one of their personal trainers was shilling for me to pay him for regular sessions.
I need this guy to teach me proper form and shit but it feels like past the point of learning the basics it's kind of a scam.
What does /fit/ think? Waste of time/money or worth it for a total noob?
If he knows what he's doing it's a good way to avoid snap city.

You don't need a personal trainer long term, that's a meme, but if you can pay him per session you could get him to show you basic form. They usually do this shit whenever you join a new gym.

teach yourself, use the bar and film yourself, compare it to form videos. It's really not that hard.
Look, the idea of having a coach (pt) who could make sure you are doing correct form on compound lifts, and maybe even put you on a good program to get you started in your first month or so sounds nice, but your average pt is someone who either isn't going to or isn't capable of doings so.
Prepare yourself for
>"Squats? Anon those will hurt your knees, here let's do leg extensions 4x20"
>"Alright you are gonna stand on this bosu ball and ill hand you the dumbells, it lets you do a shoulder workout and a core workout at the same time, you're gonna have great balance if you work on these."
And plenty of other assorted memes. Find a gymbro or record your form and be autistically strict about it.
