Do these stupid ab curl machines do anything for your core? Aesthetically or otherwise?
>>42531171
Really depends on the machine. those stupid ab machines that you have to sit on your knees and rock and back on fourth on a slider do absolutely nothing.
>>42531171
They are completely retarded and will probably give you hernia
>>42531171
There are three things you should do for core
Squats (preferably front), diddlies (not sumo), and planks
>>42531171
I usually do two sets on the ab machine and then just go do my normal body weight ab workouts.
I feel extra burn during my body weight exercises so the machines are definitely doing something. I don't think it's a good idea ONLY using them, however.

Hanging leg raises, weighted Russian twists plus Olympic movements (clean, snatch), front squats, and deadlifts will build a strong core.
>>42531623
Fuck planks, do dragonflags instead
>>42531692
>Hanging leg raises
yuup, really gets the lower core
>>42531729
Sounds like a way to fuck your back
>>42531623
>Squats (preferably front), diddlies (not sumo)
Are you a professional maymay peddler?
>>42532428
Sometimes, but not now.
I'm not saying never do the alternate styles.
I'm saying that if you want to hit your core the hardest, that's how you do it
>>42531171
Don't use them, they're shit.
There's literally nothing wrong with using these machines, just don't use it as your only ab exercise
>>42531623
if you can plank for more than a minute you should be doing more dynamic variations of plank
>>42533856
Plank for a minute is the basic entry for a plank.
You're right for 2 minutes
>>42533856
What about weighted planks?
Are ab wheels worth it?
>>42533894
Ab wheels work really well if you do them right.
It's like doing a moving plank. But if you have any lower back problems prepare for a day of being bed ridden.
