Whenever I squat, I get a bit of pain/soreness in my inner hips/groin. It's not unbearable, and doesn't feel like muscle soreness, but it clearly shouldn't be there.

Without weight, I only feel it very mildly.
With just the bar (warming up) I feel it a LOT.
When I add more weight (I'm only up to squatting 100 lbs) I feel it a little bit less, for whatever reason.

I've got pretty long legs, so I squat with a rather wide stance, and feet out about 45 degrees.

Is this a mobility issue, or a strength issue? Does something need to be stretched? Should I avoid squats entirely for a while?

Image obviously not me, but maybe pretty close to my stance.

Could be that your hip adductors are very weak.

how often are you squatting?

if you want real help post a video. otherwise the best I can do I say weak glutes, and to do more deadlifts instead of squats until it goes away. Also learn lunges they are great for helping you drive with your glutes and quads.

Probably a combination of manythings, sitting down keeps your hip adductors in a perma relaxed state so they are most likely weak and/or tight. Continuing to squat regularly will solve both of these issues. Doing specific stretching is overrrated, you get all the stretch you need from squats alone. In your spare time you could bang out some bodyweight squats and try slav squatting for a while why watching TV.

Should I keep squatting at a more comforrtable weight until that specific pain goes away?

i get the same thing, immediately before you squat do toddler squat and hold for a minute or two, also when you descend make sure its nice and controlled

just got this the other day. squat heaps wide too. the ground i squat on is uneven... and yeah it feels...weird.

Try squatting without shoes

I'm guessing this is your problem. This requires a lot of mobility you most likely don't have as a beginner. I'm also guessing you don't keep your femurs in external rotation either which causes a whole another bunch of problems.
I'd move the stance in and squat more normal, just because you have long legs doesn't mean you have to squat wide.

This. I think i've just tore adductor / strained my groin.

140kg squat is going to be 100-110kg for a while until it stops hurting. Same for deadlift, 120kg for now rather than pushing 150kg.

Don't know how long it's going to take me to recover, I'm only 11 weeks in but if it's 6 weeks of no progress I don't care. I know what injury is and I'm not going to encourage it. I can walk around fine, but if I keep pushing it I'll end up in bed unable to walk to do shopping/go out etc... I imagine.

There are adductor machines. Maybe give them a whirl on light weights. That's what I'm doing along with specific light stretches massaging the area... It's a small muscle but it can prevent you getting around so don't take it for granted. I'm not.

Does it almost feel like a burning sensation OP? feeling like something is pinching? I got this for a while in my groin but seemed to have gone away on its own

I think your stance might be TOO wide

Long legs shouldn't contribute to a super wide stance

Try narrowing your stance a little and SHOVING YOUR KNEES WAY THE FUCK OUT THERE as you go down.
